Licensed Conveyancers

Conveyancers

Licensed Conveyancers are required by statute to effect Professional Indemnity Insurance which protects the customer against loss in the event of the Licensed Conveyancer being negligent when carrying out their conveyancing. In addition, they have to contribute to a Compensation Fund, which is administered by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, which again is there to protect the customer against loss in the event that the Licensed Conveyancer fails to act properly or is dishonest or fraudulent.

If you make a valid claim against us for a loss arising out of work for which we are legally responsible, and we are unable to meet our liability in full, you may be entitled to claim from the Compensation Fund administered by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (from whom details can be obtained).

More information about the Compensation Fund can be found here.

Licensed Conveyancers are regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, which is the statutory body for Licensed Conveyancers. They are governed by rules of professional conduct, which are laid down by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers. In the event that a client is not happy with the service that they have provided and wishes to make a formal complaint then there is a complaints procedure which has to be followed and a client is able to refer a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman if not satisfied with the conveyancers initial response to the complaint. You can view our full complaints procedure by clicking here.
